1. How a Transformer Works
A transformer changes AC voltage using electromagnetic induction.
It has two coils: the primary coil and the secondary coil. When AC power goes into the primary coil, the iron core makes a changing magnetic field. This makes the secondary coil produce voltage. The ratio of turns in the coils matches the voltage ratio.
By changing the number of turns, we change the voltage. For example: If the primary coil has 500 turns and the secondary has 250 turns, putting 220V into the primary gives 110V out from the secondary.
A transformer can lower or raise voltage. If the primary coil has fewer turns than the secondary, it is a step-up transformer-it makes low voltage into high voltage.

2. What a Transformer Is Made Of
The main parts of a transformer are the iron core and the windings.
The iron core gives a path for the magnetic field. The windings are the wire coils that carry the current. The winding connected to the power is called the primary winding. The one connected to the load is the secondary winding.
Core-type: The windings are wrapped around the iron core. This is simple to make and easy to insulate, so it is widely used.
Shell-type: The iron core wraps around the windings. This type is very strong but needs more material and is harder to make. It is mostly used in special cases like small, low-voltage transformers.

3. What a Transformer Does
Change voltage: It can increase or decrease voltage. Power from the generator is raised for sending over long lines, then lowered for use in homes and factories.
Change current: When voltage changes, current changes too.
Isolate circuits: It separates the user's system from the main power grid. This helps keep things safe if there is a problem.
